Over the course of five days, between 29 June and 3 July 2026, children participating in the summer camp organized within the DECRISIS – Development of Children’s Rehabilitation Institutions (ROHU00350) project took part in a diverse programme of educational, creative and recreational activities prepared by specialists from Satu Mare and Nyíregyháza. Together with five teachers from Hungary, the team of the Satu Mare Inclusive Education School Centre developed a programme that combined the development of practical skills with play and teamwork.
The camp brought together 125 children with special educational needs from Satu Mare County, while 91 teachers from the Satu Mare Inclusive Education School Centre were involved in organizing and carrying out the activities. A similar summer camp for children with special educational needs was also organized at the Bárczi Gusztáv School in Nyíregyháza between 22 and 26 June 2026.
The culinary workshops were among the most appreciated activities. The children prepared pizzas, salads, sandwiches and cakes, taking part in every stage of the process, from preparing the ingredients to serving the dishes. At the same time, artistic workshops provided numerous opportunities for creative expression. The participants created scenery and puppets for performances based on the stories The Three Little Pigs and The Enormous Turnip, which they later presented to their fellow participants and parents. Music and hands-on activities also played an important role in the programme. The children made their own musical instruments, experimented with rhythms and took part in games that encouraged cooperation and communication.
Safety education was another important component of the camp. Representatives of the Community Police, Traffic Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Gendarmerie, Satu Mare Territorial Border Police Service and Petea Border Police Sector presented their equipment and organized demonstrations through which the children learned more about road safety, risk prevention and the role of the institutions responsible for public safety.
The camp concluded with a festive atmosphere, including a Zumba session, a sweet treasure hunt, dancing and an award ceremony. Throughout the five days, participants had the opportunity to learn through practical experiences, work together and take part in activities carried out within a cross-border cooperation framework.
The DECRISIS – Development of Children’s Rehabilitation Institutions project is implemented by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association in partnership with the Satu Mare Inclusive Education School Centre and the Nyíregyháza District Educational Centre, with the Satu Mare County School Inspectorate as associated partner. The total project budget amounts to EUR 477,999.90, of which EUR 382,399.91 is financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary Programme. The project implementation period is 24 months.
