The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association begins implementing the STEMLab Synergy project

The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association, as a partner, is starting the implementation of the project STEMLab Synergy: Shaping Future Skills in Romanian & Ukrainian Schools, in cooperation with the Project Managers Association YADRO from Ukraine (lead partner) and Uzhhorod National University. The aim is to support the enhancement of STEM education in the Transcarpathia region (UA) and Satu Mare County (RO).

The project goes beyond simply equipping labs or revising curricula — it aims to build a modern educational ecosystem focused on developing future-oriented skills.

What does STEMLab Synergy involve?

  • Establishing modern STEM laboratories
  • Developing a professional training program for STEM teachers to encourage innovative teaching methods in their communities
  • Running awareness campaigns for students and parents to fight stereotypes and highlight new opportunities
  • Organizing motivational events — career fairs, an international camp, and competitions that inspire youth to confidently pursue science and technology

Activities carried out by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association:

  • Setting up three modern STEM labs in middle schools in Bârsău de Sus, Moftinu Mic, and Livada
  • Organizing a training workshop for 15 local STEM teachers, in collaboration with the “Dariu Pop” Teacher Training Center of Satu Mare
  • Supporting the adaptation of training materials developed in Ukraine to the Romanian educational context
  • Coordinating the selection of Romanian participants for the cross-border Project Lab Camp and student competition
  • Hosting a county-level career fair focused on promoting the appeal and real-life applicability of STEM careers
  • Promoting the project through visibility and communication actions to increase interest in STEM education among students, parents, teachers, and the wider community
  • Facilitating cooperation between schools, local authorities, and the business sector in Satu Mare County to ensure the sustainability of project results

STEMLab Synergy is a unique opportunity to harness the region’s potential and build a modern, innovative, and future-oriented educational system.

The project “STEMLab Synergy: Shaping Future Skills in Ukrainian and Romanian Schools” is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme.
