The first local meeting within the SpongeCity project

On April 25, 2024, the first local meeting of the project ” SPONGECITY- Improving the capacity of cities to adapt to climate change by testing and promoting the “sponge city” methodology at a transnational level” took place in Livada. The meeting was attended by representatives of the implementation team of the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association and representatives of Livada City – strategic partner associated in this project. The following topics were on the agenda of the meeting: presentation of the project, activities that must be completed in the first semester of project implementation, future local meetings and the expansion of the local working group, the possible location of the garden to be built in Livada City within this project.

The project “SPONGECITY – Enhancing the Capacity of Cities to Adapt to Climate Change through Testing and Promoting the ‘Sponge City’ Methodology on a Transnational Level” aims to analyze hydroclimatic characteristics and practices in water management in 12 communities. It involves creating a model to support the planning of urban water management measures, testing and promoting tools through participatory development of local action plans, feasibility studies, and small-scale investments. Thirteen partners are involved in the project implementation, with the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association partnering with the Livada City as a strategic partner in this project. The total value of the project is 2,028,509.20 EUR, with a budget allocated to the Association within this project of 164,500 EUR.
