Public Procurement Training within the GENPROCURE Project

On February 4–5, 2025, a training session was held for the Local Support Group established within the GENPROCURE – Gender Inclusion in Public Procurement project, funded through the URBACT IV Programme. The training was delivered by Matthew Baqueriza-Jackson, the network’s lead expert, and Edgar Azvedo, representing the project’s lead partner, Villa Nova de Famalicao. The training included both theoretical and practical sessions focusing on the inclusion of social, environmental, and gender aspects in public procurement. Additionally, the current status of the Integrated Action Plan’s development and the next steps in its elaboration were discussed, along with an analysis of expenditures conducted by the local group’s member institutions.

The main objective of the GenProcure project is to explore ways in which public procurement can contribute to reducing gender inequalities. The project has an implementation period of 30 months and will conclude with the development of a Local Action Plan in the field of public procurement. The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association is one of the nine project partners, alongside the following public authorities: Vila Nova de Famalicao (Portugal) – the lead partner and coordinator, Zagreb (Croatia), Koszalin (Poland), Messina (Italy), Ibrány (Hungary), Alcoy (Spain), Umea (Sweden), and the Department for Development and International Projects of Zenica-Doboj Canton (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The project is funded through the URBACT IV Programme, with a total budget of 847,160 euros, of which 669,873.75 euros represent co-financing from the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
