The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association is the lead partner of the SMART ENERGY project – Cross-border cooperation for energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy sources (HUSKROUA/23/RS/3.1/010), funded by the Interreg VI-A Next Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme. Between 10 and 13 June 2025, a public campaign promoting renewable energy sources was conducted in five high schools across Satu Mare County within the framework of the project.

The campaign targeted over 200 students aged between 14 and 19 from the following high schools: “George Barițiu” Technological High School in Livada, Ardud Technological High School, “Simion Bărnuțiu” Technological High School in Carei, Tășnad Technological High School, and “Ioniță G. Andron” Technological High School in Negrești-Oaș. The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association purchased one educational kit on renewable energy for each of the five high schools, enabling students to gain hands-on experience with these energy sources during lessons and workshops organized by their teachers.

The SMART ENERGY project – Cross-border cooperation for energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy sources is implemented by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association as lead partner, in collaboration with the Zakarpattia Regional Development Agency (Ukraine) and the Municipality of Újfehértó (Hungary).
