Study Visit in Satu Mare County for Strengthening Cross-Border Cooperation in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency within the SMART ENERGY Project

The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association is the lead partner in the SMART ENERGY project – Cross-border cooperation for energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy sources HUSKROUA/23/RS/3.1/010, funded by the Interreg VI-A Next Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme.

On 9–10 October 2025, within the project, a study visit took place in Satu Mare County, bringing together 14 representatives of public institutions from Uzhhorod (Ukraine) and Újfehértó (Hungary). During the two days, participants presented major renewable energy and energy efficiency projects from their regions, visited public institutions implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, and toured one of the largest photovoltaic parks in Satu Mare County. The study visit provided an opportunity to learn about green projects implemented in the cross-border regions and to transfer best practices in the field, thus contributing to the strengthening of cross-border cooperation in this strategic area.

The SMART ENERGY project – Cross-border cooperation for energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy sources is implemented by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association as lead partner, in collaboration with the Zakarpattia Regional Development Agency (Ukraine) and the Municipality of Újfehértó (Hungary).
