The INCLUSIV.EDU – Towards an Inclusive Intercultural Education System in the Cross-Border Area project was successfully implemented during January 20, 2025 – January 19, 2026 by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association as the lead partner, in collaboration with the Bereg Microregion Multisectoral Intercommunity Association from Hungary and the “Edelweiss” Charitable Association from the Zakarpattia Region, Ukraine. The main objective of the project was to promote intercultural education in the cross-border region through institutional cooperation and the development of teaching staff competencies.
During the 12 months of implementation, a series of activities were carried out to support integration and the promotion of intercultural education in the three border regions. These activities included a working workshop, a study visit, and an online workshop to develop teachers’ skills, puppet theatre performances for children, public campaigns promoting tolerance and diversity, student camps, the organization of Diversity Day, and the creation of a guide for intercultural education.
In Satu Mare County, activities were implemented in collaboration with six partner schools: Școala Gimnazială “Csűry Bálint” – Agriș, Școala Gimnazială „Vasile Lucaciu” – Apa, Școala Gimnazială Fényi István – Căpleni, Școala Gimnazială „Gellért Sándor” – Micula, Școala Generală cu clasele I-VIII – Poiana Codrului, and Școala Gimnazială – Terebești. In Satu Mare County, 900 children and 34 teachers benefited from project activities, while at the project level, the total number of beneficiaries from the three partner regions reached 1,595 children, 75 teachers, and 30 parents.
The project, with a total budget of EUR 299,944.26, of which EUR 269,949.83 represents the contribution of the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Next Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme, contributed to raising awareness about the importance of cultural diversity, improving teachers’ skills in using inclusive educational methods, promoting tolerance and mutual respect, and strengthening cross-border cooperation between educational institutions.
