The 4YOURSMILE project – Equal access to dental care in the cross-border region implemented by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association, project leader, in partnership with the Zakarpattia Regional Development Agency (Ukraine), the City of Nagykálló (Hungary) and the cities of Ardud and Livada, has as its main objective ensuring equal access to oral health for children in the cross-border region through investments in dental care facilities, actions to promote oral health and the development of the skills of professionals in the field.
The main activities of the project are::
✅ Establishment of two modern dental care facilities in Satu Mare County (Ardud and Livada)
✅ Modernization of three existing dental care facilities (Uzhgorod – Ukraine, Nagykálló – Hungary)
✅ Involvement of over 3,000 children in dental prevention and oral hygiene programs in the cross-border region, through collaboration with schools, community centers and medical units
✅ Extensive education and awareness campaigns for children, parents and teachers
✅ Training and experience exchange programs for dental professionals, in order to strengthen cross-border collaboration.
In Satu Mare County, 2 modern school dental care facilities will be established in the cities of Ardud and Livada. The renovation works of the space intended for the dental care facility at the Ardud Technological High School are currently underway, and the documentation for the procedure for the acquisition of the medical equipment necessary to equip the dental care facility is being prepared. In the city of Livada, the works for the establishment of the school dental care facility at the “Petofi Sandor” Junior High School have been completed. The works included the complete renovation of the space. contributing to the creation of an appropriate environment for the performance of medical procedures, both for specialized personnel and for young patients. Next, the acquisition and installation of state-of-the-art dental equipment, as well as ensuring optimal hygiene and sterilization conditions, will follow.
In the coming months, a mobile dental caravan will also be organized that will offer free consultations and small dental treatments for 400 children from Satu Mare County, and 1,500 children will be involved in a large campaign to promote proper dental care and will benefit from oral hygiene packages.
By investing in medical infrastructure, modernizing existing dental practices, establishing two new dental practices, promoting preventive education and stimulating long-term cooperation, the 4YOURSMILE project contributes to ensuring a healthier future for children in the cross-border region between Romania, Hungary and Ukraine.
The total budget of the 4YOURSMILE project is EUR 672,450.10, of which EUR 605,205.07 represents funding from the European Union through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme. The project is implemented between March 1, 2025 and February 28, 2027.
