The President of the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association, Mr. Pataki Csaba, signed the public procurement contracts for all four lots within the procedure “Supply of IT equipment, educational materials, laboratory equipment and furniture (including transport, installation and commissioning) for Bârsău de Sus Secondary School, ‘Mihai Viteazu’ Secondary School in Moftinu Mic, ‘George Barițiu’ Technological High School in Livada and the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association”, under the project “STEMLab Synergy: shaping the skills of the future in schools from Romania and Ukraine”, project code ROUA00153. The total value of the 4 procurement contracts is 396,512 lei excluding VAT.
The signing of the contracts represents an important step in the implementation of the project and will allow the start of the process of equipping the three partner schools with modern equipment and educational resources adapted to the current needs of students and teachers. Through this investment, IT equipment, educational materials, laboratory equipment and furniture will be provided for three modern STEM laboratories. The new equipment will support the development of students’ digital, technical and practical skills and will provide teachers with modern tools for educational activities adapted to current requirements.
The three schools in Satu Mare County that will benefit from modern STEM laboratories are: Bârsău de Sus Secondary School, “Mihai Viteazu” Secondary School in Moftinu Mic and “George Barițiu” Technological High School in Livada. Through this project, the partners aim to contribute to the modernization of educational infrastructure and to bring the educational process closer to the real demands of the labour market by promoting STEM education.
The project STEMLab Synergy: shaping the skills of the future in schools from Romania and Ukraine is implemented with the financial support of the European Union through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme. The Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association is a partner in the project alongside the Project Managers Association “YADRO” (lead partner), Uzhhorod National University from Ukraine and the “Dariu Pop” Teachers’ Training House Satu Mare (associated partner).
The general objective of the project is to improve the quality and relevance of STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in secondary schools from Satu Mare County (RO) and the Transcarpathia region (UA), reduce the gap between education and the labour market and strengthen cross-border cooperation in education. Within the project, three STEM laboratories will be equipped at the following educational institutions from Satu Mare County: Bârsău de Sus Secondary School, “Mihai Viteazul” Secondary School in Moftinu and “George Barițiu” Technological High School in Livada.
The project has a total budget of EUR 444,405.86 and is implemented over a period of 18 months starting from May 2025.
